What is an End of Life Doula?

  • The word “doula” comes from the Greek, where it means, roughly, “female helper” or “woman who serves.”
  • An EOLD knows the importance of having the dying persons loved ones present during the end of life journey.
  • An EOLD stresses that the dying person must have a voice in their final days and in their death.
  • The goal is a “good death” for our clients.
  • An EOLD understands the loved ones need to be involved in the end of life planning process.

About

Years ago, I had the privilege of accompanying two very special people through their end of life journey. They impacted me in a profound way. Leaving me with a feeling of wanting to do more for the dying and their family.

The older I get the more I see how short life really is and just how important it is to have a good support system.

Death is something most of us are ill prepared for. Does it have to be that way? By planning ahead as soon as possible, we can concentrate on what is important. What is important to you?

As an End-of-Life Doula, I help with that planning. Always advocating for the needs and wishes, before, during and after death.

Testimonals

Sharon was a huge source of reassurance and invaluable guidance on multiple occasions as we navigated the uncharted waters during the death of my mother.

We found her to be a wonderful listener and an immense comfort to our entire family.
